Sustainable Community Development Initiative
|Campus Sustainability Spotlight|
Every month of the academic year, one of Grand Valley’s eight colleges will be highlighted for their sustainability efforts in classes, events, programs, and more. In addition, we will feature sustainability efforts in facilities, dining, and other non-academic units.
The goal is to showcase the variety of sustainability related events, classes, projects, and resources on campus so students and faculty and staff members can connect to sustainability related issues that interest them.
Please join us in our first Campus Sustainability Spotlight year. Challenge yourself to learn how and why Grand Valley State University is one of the most sustainable colleges in the nation. Show your sustainable Laker pride!
|Sustainability Champions Awards Breakfast|
Sustainability Champions are individuals who, by practice and belief, support the ideals of sustainable practice and using a triple bottom-line approach to problems and issues. The champions have demonstrated that they support both in word and deed, and can be looked to as leaders in sustainability. Every year there is a call for nominations and a breakfast to recognize sustainability champions.
Over a 10-week period, from January through March, campuses compete in different contests to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita, or have the highest recycling rate.
