The best way to change this reality is to get women the skills they need to negotiate a fair wage in their FIRST job. the Start Smart workshop, offered once a year, provided students with the skills to secure a fair wage.  The program is a partnership between the American Association of Univeristy Women (AAUW), the GVSU Women's Center and GVSU Career Services.

Each December the Women's Center partners with local businesses and nonprofits to sell fair trade, women-made goods at the on-campus holiday sale.  10% of the proceeds raised are donated to Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW).
