The Muskegon Lake and Estuary Emergent Vegetation Restoration Demonstration Project Lead: The Muskegon River Watershed AssemblyFunded by: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Project Duration: Summer 2002 - Summer 2005 Purpose: Re-establishment of native wild rice stands, soft stem bulrush and other aquatic vegetation for fish and wildlife in the Muskegon Lake Area of Concern (AOC) and the lower river (estuary) located at the river mouth and within the Muskegon State Game Area. This demonstration project will also seek to identify and determine the most successful methods of planting this vegetation. Click Here for More Information Timberland RC&D Area Council, Inc. Newaygo Road/Stream Crossing - Timberland coordinated with the Huron-Manistee Forest, Newaygo County Road Commission and GVSU Annis Water Resources Institute for a crossing inventory at sites within the Huron- Manistee boundary in the White River Watershed. The Road Commision was accepted for a TEA-21 grant to inventory the remaining portion of the county (which includes part of the Muskegon River Watershed). Muskegon River Bank Stabilization - Timberland coordinated with Consumer's Energy on the stabilization of the river bank at Tailwater Park, included in their park enhancement project. |
