Status of Lake Sturgeon in Muskegon River System
Objectives:
The purpose of this project is to investigate the early life history of a remnant population of lake sturgeon in the Muskegon River. Specific objectives are to:
- Determine areas where lake sturgeon spawning occurs and quantitatively define demographic attributes of spawning adults
- Monitor annual recruitment success of lake sturgeon and assess potential factors influencing drift dynamics
- Determine the extent and duration of young-of-the-year and juvenile lake sturgeon residence in Muskegon River and Lake through assessing spatial and temporal distribution
- Describe growth and habitat use of juvenile lake sturgeon
