Welcome to the Tutoring Center!

 
 
 
  • You may submit a request for a tutor beginning the first day of classes.
  • All requests for tutoring must be submitted online.
  • The Tutoring Center provides tutoring (at no cost) to all Grand Valley State University students in most 100- and 200-level courses and some 300- 400-level courses.
  • If you wish a tutor for a 300-400-level course, in addition to submitting the online request, you will need to complete a special request form.
  • All writing tutoring requests will be handled by the Writing Center. For more information about the Writing Center please go to their website at gvsu.edu/wc.
  • Tutoring is limited to one fifty minute session per subject per week.
  • Tutorials are conducted in weekly, fifty minute sessions in small group settings.
  • Requests for languages are limited to one fifty minute session per week per language.
  • Tutoring sessions will not be conducted on days and holidays when classes are not in session, during finals week and when GVSU is closed.
  • The Tutoring Center seeks to facilitate students' academic progress and to develop self-directed, independent learners.

Walk-in Tutoring Available:

  • Walk-in BMS 305, 310 and 311 tutoring available in 100 CHS SASC Mondays 12 noon to 2 pm.
  • Science Success Center - peer facilitated office which offers support for students in BIO 120, 121, and 355/375; BMS: 208, 212, 250 and 290; CHM 109, 115, 116, 230, 231, 232, 241, and 242; PHY 200, 220, 221, 230, and 231
  • Chemistry Center - staffed by chemistry faculty and student tutors. Chemistry faculty teaching 102, 109, 111, 115, 116, 201, 221, 222, 230, 231, 232, 241, 242, 245, & 247 will be holding some or all of their office hours in 200 STU during the fall and winter semesters. If you wish to become a CHM tutor, please contact Sarah Clark at 616-331-2072 or email clarksa1@gvsu.edu.
  • Math Center - tutoring for students enrolled in Math 097, 110, 122, 123, 125, 201 and Stats Center for students enrolled in STA 215
  • ECO 312, 313 Walk-in Tutoring in SCB 3072 on Mondays and Wednesdays 12 pm - 3 pm. Students in ECO 210 and 211 are accommodated as time allows.
