Meet The Fred Meijer Administrative Staff!


Kay Losey has administered several writing programs at multiple universities, as well as serving as the SWS program director at Grand Valley State University. She is an expert in working with TESOL writers in addition to her work with faculty on developing rubrics, improving assignments, and assessing programs.

Assistant Director

Patrick Johnson is the full-time Assistant Director of the Fred Meijer Center for Writing.  He earned his Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Washington State University, followed by several years of work as a writing tutor, teacher, and Writing Center Coordinator.  While at WSU, he helped establish a statewide e-tutoring program that provided online tutoring to students from over 30 Washington colleges.  His scholarship and presentations have focused on small-group tutoring, program assessment, teaching, and tutor training.  He enjoys movies, books, and games from any medium or genre, hates pickles, and has an inexplicable love of rain.

Office Coordinator

Lisa Gullo is the office coordinator and maintains office and personnel files, processes office/administrative requests, manages phones and other communication, keeps consultants updated on their tasks and schedules. 

Professional Writing Consultant

Michelle Sanchez is the professional writing consultant of the Fred Meijer Center for writing. She has worked at the writing center for six years as a writing consultant, graduate assistant, and interim assistant director. She earned her Master's and Bachelor's degrees in English Language and Literature from Grand Valley. Michelle enjoys jogging, books, and African safaris on the Tanzanian and Kenyan plains.
