Cost & Payment Options
Grand Valley is one of the most affordable colleges in Michigan. To help students plan for their expenses while attending Grand Valley the Financial Aid Office determines a budget for the maximum amount of aid a student may receive. The budget is a projected average of costs for one academic year. You can obtain a closer estimate of your actual costs by calculating your own expenses using our worksheet.
The information provided below will help you understand the average costs associated with attending Grand Valley and payment options.
Tuition is based on the classification of the student and the course: undergraduate lower or upper division, graduate, resident, or non-resident. Additional expenses may include books, parking permits, housing and meal plans.
Each year the Financial Aid Office determines a budget/cost of attendance that projects average costs for tuition, fees, room and board, books, and other expenses. Budgets are used to represent student differences with regards to residency, enrollment status and academic level. All financial aid awards are created based on budgets for full-time attendance and adjusted at the end of the add/drop period each semester.
Grand Valley's Student Accounts Office handles your bill for any Grand Valley related expenses. All first time Grand Valley students will receive their first bill by mail at their permanent address. After that all students will receive an email with directions to view their eBill through the myBanner system. You will receive a bill for each semester. Fall billing is done in July, Winter billing is done in November and Spring/Summer billing is done in March.
Your bill will outline all Grand Valley related expenses and any financial aid you have accepted. Any amount owing must be paid by the due date listed on the bill. It is very important to pay attention to this date. If you have an unpaid balance on the due date, your classes may be canceled.
You are able to pay your bill online, in person, or over the phone. The Student Accounts Office website outlines the types of payments accepted. Please review these carefully when making your payment. A deferment plan is also available through the Student Accounts Office.
