What, if any, technology fee is charged by the campus? What does it cover?

Will you be required to purchase your own computer equipment and software?

What security measures are provided by the institution’s IT department and what will be the student’s responsibility (for example, antivirus software)?

Does the campus include the cost of technical accessories (for example, a technology-enabled note-taking pen that provides an interface to a CMS) in its technology fee, or are students required to purchase these items separately?

What, if any, technology fee is charged by the campus? What does it cover?

We do not have a technology fee.

 

Will you be required to purchase your own computer equipment and software?

No.  It is highly recommended.

 

Does the campus make computing and network access financially accessible?

Yes.

  • Free wired and wireless access is available on campus.
  • Free dial-up access is available off-campus.

 

Is special student pricing offered for computers and peripheral equipment?

Yes, via Dell and Apple.

 

Technical support

 

What hardware and software standards, if any, does the campus require, recommend, and/or support?

What kinds of support services (help desk, training, troubleshooting) are provided by the campus, and when are they available?

The Information Technology Helpdesk is available for student technology questions and troubleshooting on a 24x7 basis. 

 

Does the campus have a plan for keeping its hardware and software current, and if so, what is the replacement cycle?

Replacement typically falls within a three to five year replacement cycle.

 

If you bring your own computer to school, what kind of technical support can you expect from the campus?

The Information Technology Helpdesk will assist with wireless access questions and basic guidance of other problems.

 

Other services

 

How does the campus support printing for students, and is there a charge for this service?

Black and White laser printing is free of charge within all computer labs and library areas.

 

Does the campus provide wireless network coverage? If so, how much of the campus has wireless connectivity?

Yes.  100% of all academic areas.

 

What security measures are provided by the institution’s IT department and what will be the student’s responsibility (for example, antivirus software)?

All computer labs and classrooms are equipped with antivirus and spyware software that receives updates daily from a centralized server.  Students who live on campus qualify for free anti-virus software for the academic year they are registered for.

 

Does the campus include the cost of technical accessories (for example, a technology-enabled note-taking pen that provides an interface to a CMS) in its technology fee, or are students required to purchase these items separately?

Technology accessories are not provided for student use.

 

Does the campus support the purchase and use of e-textbooks? Do the baseline hardware and software standards support this technology?

The campus does not provide special options to purchase e-textbooks. Individual faculty requirements within a course are supported.
