The Cabinet shall act as an advisory board, making suggestions and recommendations to the General Assembly, including the Senate operating budget, yearly goals, objectives, and changes to the bylaws and Constitution. It shall organize the agenda by reviewing the upcoming recommendations, resolutions and proposals prior to the General Assembly meeting. The Cabinet shall take positions on behalf of the Senate when the General Assembly is not in session. Such Cabinet actions must be submitted to the General Assembly at the next regular meeting for ratification.
The Senate Resources Committee is dedicated to developing and maintaining an effective Student Senate. The SRC will ensure efficiency within the organization by servicing its internal dilemmas and by enforcing its established rules.
To effectively administer the Student Life Fund to student organizations for the promotion and enhancement of campus life at Grand Valley State University; evaluate all monetary expenditures and events ensuring Student Life Funds are being used for the enhancement of campus life.
To monitor all campus-oriented issues, to inform the Student Senate and administration of these issues and to act as the voice of the students ensuring that their best interests are fulfilled.
To keep a close watch on the changing system of education at GVSU, to maintain close contacts with University academic committees and to ensure a strong student voice in the shaping of academic policies.
The Diversity Affairs Committee will consider and act upon policy, practices and issues; make recommendations to the Senate and University administration; create an open dialogue between Student Senate and organizations that have a diverse interest or focus; facilitate awareness and open communication; research and investigate various forms of discrimination against students related to, but not limited to, matters of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, disability, origin and other multicultural matters.
To provide Grand Valley State University with an awareness of local, state, national and global political issues and affairs; specifically, those issues and affairs which affect or concern students.
The Public Relations Committee shall act as a liaison between the Student Senate and the student body by informing the Student Senate of public opinions and concerns of the student body and also by informing the student body of Student Senate activities. The SSPRC is also responsible for ensuring an accurate image of the Student Senate and works towards establishing and maintaining a positive relationship with the student body through spoken, written, and visual tactics.
