OUR HISTORY
1960 | Grand Valley State University was founded
1965 | The first economics courses were taught
1970 | The School of Business and Economics is established
1973 | The F.E. Seidman Graduate College is formed
1979 | Undergraduate and graduate programs merged
into one School, the Seidman College
1983 | Renamed the Seidman School of Business
1997 | AACSB accreditation is awarded for all
business programs and the School of Accounting
2004 | Renamed the Seidman College of Business
2013 | The L. William Seidman Center is opened
Earning AACSB’s supplemental accounting accreditation signifies a business school’s commitment to strategic management, learner success, thought leadership, and societal impact.
The School of Accounting was reaccredited in 2022.
SAP (System Analysis Program) is one of the world’s leading producers of software for the management of business processes, developing solutions that facilitate effective data processing and information flow across organizations.
Our undergraduates learn how to execute an order-to-cash cycle in SAP.
To become a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), candidates must pass the Uniform CPA Examination ® (CPA Exam), which comprises four sections: Auditing and Attestation, Business Environment and Concepts, Financial Accounting and Reporting, and Regulation.
Our students consistently rank above the average on the CPA exam.
Our students are recruited by prestigious companies such as BDO, Beene Garter, Crowe, Dow Chemical, Hungerford Nichols, Plate Moran, Perrigo, Steelcase, and Whirlpool, among many others!
