- Each college at GVSU has an academic advising center that serves specific majors in that college. If you have specific questions about program requirements, you could contact the advising center to seek additional information.

- Our Career Center provides comprehensive support and resources for all students at GVSU. It is recommended that you connect with the counselors there as soon as you transition to GVSU.
- The Career Guides by Major allow students to investigate possible career or graduate/professional school opportunities based on specific programs of study.

NOTES:
- Transfer students are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours at Grand Valley, which include at least eight hours in applied music, three hours in major ensembles, and nine additional hours in music to be determined by the advisor.
- Degrees offered: B.A., B.M., and B.M.E.
- Each applicant will be required to arrange a personal audition with the Music Department.
- All students will be required to take a theory placement exam and a keyboard placement exam.
- All majors must fulfill the department recital and Music Major Seminar attendance requirements, fulfill the keyboard musicianship requirements, and perform one or two faculty-approved recitals, as appropriate to the degree program selected.
- This guide fulfills the Michigan Transfer agreement (MTA). Science electives must be selected from different disciplines. Social science electives must be taken from different disciplines. Humanities elective must be a non-MUS course. Please check with your community college advisor for additional associate degree requirements. GVSU will still honor the MACRAO agreement.
- IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENTS SEE THE GRCC ACADEMIC ADVISING AND TRANSFER CENTER FOR A LIST OF COURSES THAT WILL FULFILL ELECTIVES.

- For students planning to pursue K-12 teacher certification in Music (B.M.E.) at GVSU, MUS 183 should also be taken at GRCC. It will transfer to GVSU as MUS 200.
Students completing the Associate of Music or Associate of Arts - Music major at GRCC should note that there are additional GRCC applied music (http://www.grcc.edu/music/appliedmusicprogram) and ensemble (http://www.grcc.edu/music/ensembles) degree requirements in order to earn the Associate of Music at GRCC.
