Semester 2016, MW 4:30-5:45 p.m., 253 LMH
Anthropologists have long engaged communities both locally and
globally. This is a skills-building course on applied, community
engagement, featuring:
• The contribution of applied anthropology to contemporary
“real world” issues, such as development, health, food, environment,
and immigration
• Cases studies on public and advocacy
anthropology
• Class projects involving students in
participatory action research in the GR community
•
Face-to-face interactions with a Community Partner and local immigrant
groups
• Hand-on approaches to qualitative research and methods
