Grand Valley State University's "Science Technology & Engineering Preview Summer Camp" (STEPS Camp) is a five-day, day camp introduction to the world of science, technology, and engineering.
Students will participate in remote live classes with other students from west Michigan. Students will be provided with a fully-stocked kit of materials and tools so that they can build and play along with the curriculum. Working in teams of roughly ten to twelve students, campers will be led by Grand Valley students serving as counselors. Campers will also participate in virtual field trips to high-tech manufacturing facilities, airport hangars, and more. The format of STEPS Camp will switch to face-to-face if conditions allow. The decision of a remote or a face-to-face delivery will be made before campers are notified of acceptance.
Depending on COVID-19 safety guidelines, we hope to engage in a 1 day campus visit to Grand Valley State University during camp. If in-person or hybrid, transportation will be provided from BCCHS to the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Pew Campus in Grand Rapids each day throughout camp.
STEPS Camp will be held June 14-18, 2021.
