Certificate in Applied Anthropology
Requirements for a Certificate in Applied Anthropology
A certificate in applied anthropology is a strong curricular addition to the degrees offered at GVSU. This 15-credit-hour certificate in applied anthropology provides students at Grand Valley with a foundational knowledge of applied anthropology, its principles, and actual experience through an internship. This certificate can be completed in three semesters (winter, summer, and fall), if all prerequisites were completed.
A certificate in applied anthropology is neither a major nor a minor; it is a focused investigation into an area of cultural resource management, medical anthropology, development, or conservation. Students must be degree-seeking students to receive the certificate. The certificate will be awarded at the same time as the degree is awarded. All undergraduate certificates have received Higher Learning Commission approval, and students are eligible for financial aid because they are seeking a degree. Anthropology accepts applications for the certificate in applied anthropology on October 15 and March 15 each year.
