CHM 245 - Principles of Organic Chemistry I

A comprehensive overview of organic chemistry, focusing on nomenclature, chemical transformations (reactions), reaction energetics, and stereochemistry. This course will examine the chemistry of hydrocarbons and the use of spectroscopic techniques to determine chemical structures. A mechanistic approach in organic problem solving will be stressed. (4-0-0) Offered fall semester. Prerequisite: CHM 116. Corequisite: CHM 246.
