EGR 453 - Biomedical Materials

Study of the characteristics of materials used in medicine and dentistry and their interactions with living tissues. Topics may include biocompatibility, host responses, degradation of biomaterials in biological environments and their applications in artificial organs, implants, soft and hard tissue replacements, dentistry, drug delivery systems, medical equipment, etc. Cross-listed with EGR 553. Offered fall semester. Prerequisites: EGR 250 with a C or better, and admitted to biomedical, interdisciplinary, mechanical, or product design and manufacturing engineering major.
