Bachelor of Arts in Art History

The art history program supports undergraduates as they learn about the social, critical, and cultural contexts that have informed, and continue to inform, the visual arts. Course offerings include historical and contemporary topics that are global in scope to engage the diverse modes of visual communication at work in our world. The curriculum supports student learning with an integrated approach that blends the study of content and theory with the acquisition of essential skills and practices. Majors benefit from close relationships with their advisors and have opportunities for internships and independent research projects as they prepare for life after graduation. Art history also makes an excellent co-major for students enrolled in programs focused on the humanities, social sciences, and professional fields in which interdisciplinary perspectives are an asset.
