SLP 681: Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Practicum I
The first semester clinical education for graduate students in the MS in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program depends on community partners. During this semester, SLP students are placed with faculty at a community adult placement and a community pediatric placement. The adult placements include skilled nursing facilities, adult day care centers, and retirement homes. The pediatric placements include preschool and elementary schools in Grand Rapids. This poster will highlight all of the wonderful community placements who have partnered with GVSU's speech-language pathology program for this first semester clinical experience since the program's inception in 2013. These partnerships have helped over 400 students learn the basics of "how to be a speech-language pathologist" under the direct supervision of GVSU faculty. The success of GVSU's SLP program is due to these incredible community partnerships.
