Pilot Design
Problem Statement
Current institutional practices and systems are insufficient to capture what students know and can do. On the flip side, the attributes, outcomes, and “credentials” of institutions themselves are often obscure to individuals.
How might we design a different system of capture and transmission, along with the institutional and cultural practices that support it?
2024-25 Phase I Pilot Commitments
- The pilot period is 18 months between Winter 2024 and Fall 2025.
- Each partner agrees to distribute wallets to its Fall 2024 juniors.
- Each partner agrees to write its current credentials to its students’ wallets and read from wallets if presented.
- Partners will explore new use cases at their institutions.
- If Phase I proves promising, we will seek to expand the number of partner institutions and participating students at each institution.
- The Co-Lab will cover all out–of–pocket implementation costs during Phase I.
Success Measures
Understanding and demonstration of necessary integrations between institutional systems of data.
Number of participating institutions and number of credentials issued/shared to relying parties.
Wallets activated and credentials claimed/credentials shared.
Documented opportunities of the use of digital credentials for the benefit of other departments and to ease the mobility of learners.
