Mental Health Communications Toolkit: May

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! May has been recognized as Mental Health Awareness month since 1949, and provides dedicated time and space to combat stigma, support those who may be struggling, educate our community, and advocate for policies and practices that work for those that may be living with any number of mental health concerns. Use this as your daily reminder that you are seen, you are heard, you're not alone, and you are more than enough! If you or someone you know is struggling, the University Counseling Center is available to help.

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

During Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we celebrate the diversity of cultures, achievements, and contributions of these communities. The AAPI umbrella term includes cultures from the entire Asian continent, including East, Southeast, and South Asia, and the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. This month, we take time to engage in awareness building, appreciation, and celebration of AAPI-identifying peoples.

Check out the Office of Multicultural Affairs for opportunities of growth, insight, and fellowship! Check out OMA's AAPI Student Engagement & Resources and learn more about the on-campus AAPI Heritage Celebration!

The University Counseling Center is available to talk about anything, including identity. Reach out to schedule an appointment if you'd like to meet with a counselor.
