CSCE works with a number of committees across campus to ensure the best research experience possible.


Faculty Research and Development Committee

The Faculty Research and Development Committee is an elected University committee which advises faculty research at the University, and reviews and approves Catalyst and Collaborative Grants.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at GVSU is charged with reviewing all research protocols involving human participants to ensure research is conducted ethically and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The IRB is comprised of scientists, non-scientists, and community members.  The board composition meets the requirements to review human subjects research as established by the federal Office of Human Research Protections.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), with support from the Office of Research Compliance and Integrity (ORCI), is responsible for overseeing the provisions for the care and well-being of vertebrate animals used for research and educational purposes at GVSU. The IACUC and ORCI serve the public by ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards regarding the use of vertebrate animals in research and educational activities at GVSU.

Radiation Safety Committee

The Radiation Safety Committee is the team responsible for the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation emitting devices. The committee sets policies and procedures that are in accordance with state and federal regulations which are then carried out by the Radiation Safety Officer.

Undergraduate Research Council (URC)

The Undergraduate Research Council (URC) is an elected University committee which advises and directs undergraduate research at the University, and reviews and approves S3 and MS3 proposals.
