Title: Challenging All Learners: A System to Differentiate
Instruction So Gifted Students Will Thrive
All learners deserve to
realize their potential through challenging experiencesincluding
the gifted! Educators can easily provide these experiences for their
gifted students, even in mixed-ability, regular classrooms. During
this session, Christie McWilliams will offer research-based, concrete
strategies educators can implement immediately to maximize gifted
students' learning and motivation, increase their own job
satisfaction, and expand parental support. Specifically, she will
present a system to differentiate instruction for students who show
early mastery of content and skills, a system that involves deeper,
more complex activities, rather than simply more work.
Conference sponsored by Ottawa Area ISD, Muskegon Area ISD, and Kent ISD; GVSU College of Education; and Michigan Association for Gifted Children.
