Reading & Literacy recognized as top online program

OnlineMasters.com selected Grand Valley State University's College of Education as one of the Best Online Master's in Reading and Literacy Programs for 2019. Grand Valley's Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Literacy Studies with an emphasis in Reading/Language Arts was rated #1 in the state of Michigan, and #24 nationally in a list of Top 50 online Reading and Literacy programs. The program was also presented with the Best Faculty award, recognizing the exceptional work and dedication of the faculty in the Literacy and Technology department.
The online review states, "Grand Valley State University provides expert instruction in the master's in reading/language arts program thanks to expert faculty members who are leaders in their field. The faculty members combine research and practice to meet their students' needs, giving them the necessary skills to succeed in their own careers."
OnlineMasters.com used a ranking methodology that took into consideration program Affordability (20%), Student Success (40%), and Academic Quality (40%). Data collected includes insights from industry professionals, as well as interviews and surveys from current students and alumni. The methodology also uses the most recent data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) which is managed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). These factors contribute to making GVSU's Online Literacy Studies M.Ed. program one of the best in the nation.
Grand Valley State University's College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The M.Ed. degree Literacy Studies with an emphasis in Reading/Language Arts is aligned with the International Literacy Association (ILA). The Reading Specialist K-12 emphasis received national recognition from ILA in 2016.
