Three Seidman College of Business students attended the Deloitte and SAP Co-Innovation event at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas August 4-6.
This is the third time Grand Valley students attended the event. The students, who are part of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program at Grand Valley, included BreAnna Bates, Cade Butch and Nikki Schlueter. The ERP program at Grand Valley is one of the world’s leading programs where students gain an understanding of integrated, cross-functional business process experience, using SAP® software.
This annual event brings together 60 students from 16 SAP University Alliance schools to participate in a case competition that tasks students to use various SAP technologies to create “first-class solution strategies for systems consolidation and transformation”. The case concluded with a presentation to Deloitte leaders who would ultimately decide the winners for the event.
The students were provided a senior manager to act as their case study mentor and a volunteer who is a GVSU alumnae in the business technology analyst role. Both were available throughout the weekend to guide the students as they created their implementation proposal.
“This event was such a great way to learn more about consulting and SAP implementation,” said Nikki Schlueter. “When we weren’t preparing for our presentation we could explore DU’s beautiful campus, network with Deloitte consultants, and listen to presentations from some of Deloitte’s leaders.”
The co-innovation event hosted students who qualified by having a 3.4 grade point average or above, extensive exposure to SAP core modules, functional knowledge of many different functional areas of a business, basic configuration skills in SAP and strong analytical skills in applying KPIs to manage business performance.
