Three Seidman College of Business students attended the Deloitte
and SAP Co-innovation Event; October 16-17 at Deloitte
University in Westlake, Texas.
At the event “each university team presented a solution based off
a case study that was provided to them. Each team had 12 hours to
work together to develop a solution that was then presented to
Deloitte leaders, esteemed guests and sponsors.”
This is the first time Grand Valley students attended the event.
The students, who are part of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
program at Grand Valley, included Kajal Magal, Brandy Bowers and Alex
Philion. The ERP program at Grand Valley is one of the world’s
leading programs where students gain an understanding of integrated,
cross-functional business process experience, using SAP® software.
"We were presented with a case study at 8 p.m., had to
submit the presentation of our solution by 7 a.m., and at 8:30 am
presented it in front of 3 judges who played the role of executives in
the hypothetical company from our case,” said Kajal Magal.
“Throughout the night, we had a Deloitte employee as a coach, who
periodically gave us "twists" to the case (new information
about the company's needs), and offered guidance while encouraging us
to be creative with our solution.”
"I was honored to represent Grand Valley State University at the SAP Co-Innovation Event," said Brandy Bowers. "It provided me with invaluable experiences and the opportunity to have a sort of day (or 12 hours) in the life of an SAP consultant."
The co-innovation event hosted students who qualified by having a 3.4 grade point average or above, extensive exposure to SAP core modules, functional knowledge of many different functional areas of a business, basic configuration skills in SAP and strong analytical skills in applying KPIs to manage business performance. Students participated in case study mentoring, networking opportunities and presentations from Deloitte leaders.
