ESSU: What to Do When you want to Say, "Thanks, but No Thanks"

Date: November 18, 2015

Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This meeting took place in the Forum, inside of Seidman. Breeann Gorham from the Career Center at GVSU spoke during the meeting. This meeting started at 6:00 p.m. and ended at 7:00 p.m. There were __ members that attended this meeting.

This meeting was about how to go about handling the situation when you get offered a job, but do not want to accept it. This included when you have multiple job offers and how to choose the correct one. Another topic we spoke about was important factors to base a job decision off of. This included salary, benefits, location, etc. One important topic that was discussed was that time is very important when making a decision, and that asking for more time to decide is the first step when deciding which offer to take. We also spoke about what is an appropriate salary to expect when coming out of college in the MIS field. She also mentioned that it is a very good idea to get everything in writing including sending an acceptation or declination email just so there is a record of it. This meeting was very beneficial and definitely was very appropriate for the point of time in our job search. The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
