This meeting took place at AkzoNobel at their location in Chicago. There were a variety of employees that presented during our visit. There were 9 ESSU members that attended. The company tour started at 9:00 a.m. and we were done at 2:00 p.m.
At AkzoNobel, we listened to a variety of speakers. These speakers consisted of the college recruiter, a project manager for the CRM project, two employees who work within the IT department, and the President of AkzoNobel North America. The college recruiter did a general overview of the company and talked about the IM position. The project manager for the new CRM project went into detail about the steps that have to be taken in order to manage a project of this magnitude. It gave a really good example of a project manager’s job and the role it plays in a project. The two employees within the IT department talked about what their roles are in company and examples of the projects they work on. One of the speakers talked about their new Service Tool. This tool is their new way to manage tickets and service calls that come in on a daily basis. This gave a good over view about what a future employee could be doing there on a day-to-day basis. After these presentations, we had lunch and were able to talk with employees in the IT department. This allowed us to get a good idea of what goes on in the office every day and to network with the employees. After lunch, we wrapped up the company tour with a presentation from the President of AkzoNobel North America. He did an over view about AkzoNobel and their different sections within the company. Overall, this was a great trip and really gave everyone an idea on what AkzoNobel does as a company. The company tour was over and we left at 2:00 p.m.
