The Outdoor Adventures program loves to ride bikes and we want to share the joy of mountain biking with you! We're planning 2 rides on local trails and we have limited quantities of bikes & helmets available for you to borrow. These will be a group ride format. While the trails and pace will be decided based on the fitness and experience of the participants, these rides in particular are intended for those with little to no mountain biking experience.
RSVP Deadline: Monday, Oct 24
Location: Bass River Recreation Area
Duration: 1-1.5hrs on the trail (depending on how the group's feeling)
Cost: FREE
Transportation: Carpool style
OA will help
coordinate rides for participants. If needed, OA can transport your
bike to/ from the trailhead.
Equipment: limited quantities of bikes and helmets available upon request. Helmet required.
Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Q: I don't have any mountain bike experience.
Should I still go?
A: Yes, definitely. Our ride leader(s) will help fit a bike to you, choose skill appropriate trails, and give you an overview of basic skills and trail etiquette before leaving the parking lot. -
Q: I have my own bike + transportation, do I need
to register?
A: The biggest benefit to registering is allowing us to send you updates if we change plans at the last minute. We can't consider you a formal part of the group if you don't register and sign the waiver. If you're alright with riding a casual pace on the easier trails, we'd love to have you on the ride! -
Q: Registration is full, can I just meet you there?
A: The answer lies in your comfort level. We have participation set to levels that can 1) be reasonably managed by our leaders and 2) don't overwhelm the trails. As a public space, there's nothing you from showing up. You're welcome to come ride with us but since you won't be able to sign our waiver, you are ultimately responsible for your own wellbeing. -
Q: I have A LOT of mountain bike experience, can I
register for this ride?
A: If you're alright with a casual pace on easier trails, we'd love to have you! Your passion and knowledge would surely be welcomed the newer riders. If you're looking to fly through technical single-track, this is not the ride for you. Email [email protected] to let us know you're interested in rides for more experienced people. We'd love to help find/ create a community for this if we know the interest is out there.
