Koops produces custom factory automation for manufacturing processes. These systems are used in the automotive, biomedical, and other entrepreneurial fields of work. The company has a strong faith-based foundation that drives the integrity, honesty, and stewardship of their work. In automation, there are opportunities to work in a variety of engineering disciplines, encompassing mechanical, electrical, controls, and launch engineering.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked as a launch engineer, verifying the mechanical and electrical designs of the machines. Confirming machine functionality and debugging design, controls, or electrical issues all played a role in my day to day tasks.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Hands on knowledge of how to build and debug pneumatic and electrical systems, general problem solving and machine diagnosis techniques, and an understanding of how automated and robotic systems are designed and assembled.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Working with the amazing Koops engineering team and acquiring a better understanding of automated machines.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I have always been drawn toward automation and robotics. This semester at Koops provided a strong education of how these systems are designed to solve a multiplicity of problems.
