Description of the Organization
Structural Concepts manufactures refrigerated display cases. Most of the cases are custom for every job, so the work is constantly changing for every job. The company is not very large, most of the employees are workers on the manufacturing floor. the main manufacturing floor and office buildings are connected, so the products are designed and manufactured in the same place.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As an intern doing my first semester of co-op, I did training and orientation for about a month. The tasks I did after that started out as fairly simple design projects, but gradually became more complex and I was given more responsibility.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I refined and learned some more about Solidworks, and more about designing parts for larger projects.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Everyone I met at the company was very nice, and friendly. While they take the work seriously, the atmosphere is very relaxed and stress-free
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I gained experience in mechanical engineering design work, and in the engineering professional world.
