Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
For this semester's co-op I was able to take on more responsibility for the layout of prints. Instead of correcting prints I was assigned to create layouts based on the customer's objective. Once a layout was established, I was delegated to locate and order the proper electrical components. Other tasks included testing out the feasibility of vision applications.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
From this co-op experience I was able to gain more knowledge of machine design and developing electrical schematics as well as fluid power design. My communication skills and knowledge base of machines grew through discussing problems and workable solutions. My skills in job tracking and project development were strengthened also.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience was taking on a larger roll in managing a project. Handling a task that was behind and meeting the time constraints was something I found enjoyable.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
My experience with meeting the daily challenges of Controls Engineering has kept my interest in wanting to learn more in this line of work. Being able to design and program machinery has definite appeal.
