Description of the Organization
Yanfeng Automotive Interiors manufactures instrument panels, door panels, floor consoles and overhead consoles. Yanfeng supplies parts for major car manufactures such. As of 2016 the company was valued at $8.5 billion and is the largest supplier of automotive interiors.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During this second co-op rotation at Yanfeng, I worked in the advanced manufacturing engineering department. Here I helped in launching a new product. In doing this, I participated in many conference calls, meetings with suppliers, and troubleshooting at the factory were the part is made.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Through this experience I improved upon my project management and trouble shooting skills. I also gained several great resources within the automotive industry.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this rotation was leading the installation of manufacturing equipment. This was a big role for me that required me to think critically and manage a group of people.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I very much enjoyed working in the AME department and this experience has confirmed for me that I would like to work in a manufacturing capacity as a career.
