Description of the Organization
L3Harris is a large innovator in many sectors from air to space. A large portion of L3Harris is in the defense sector as well as the aerospace, communication, aviation, nautical and cyber domains. L3Harris has over 40,000 employees and works internationally all over the world. I am blessed to be working alongside the commercial aviation sector in the flight recorder division.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I learned quite a bit about the flight recorders that L3Harris makes along with some of their other product lines. I was tasked with a good mix of production issues and then improvement projects that helped the production line and test engineering department as well. The main task was updating documentation for a test station and building it from the documentation I made.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned a lot about JTAG which is something I was using in classes but didn't know about. It really opened my mind to how electronics can be used and debugged. I also learned how important documentation is for future engineers if they need to revise or use drawings that were made in the past.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I really enjoyed the humor and cooperation the whole test engineering department had as a whole. It was always a good environment to work, but also to learn and take on new problems outside of my comfort zone.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Overall the Coop experience helped me see another side of engineering and company values. I have worked at a few places before L3Harris, but at L3HarrisI feel like its the most positive and healthy place I have had the chance to work at. Going forward I hope to keep working in such a motivating environment.
