Description of the Organization

Trans-Matic is a metal forming corporation specializing in what the industry calls deep-drawn metal stamping. The parts made range from automotive to specialized military.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I was tasked with making sure the tooling drawings were up to date. I also spent half the semester on gage design. Gages are used to make sure the incredibly intricate parts are accurate to within 1/1000 of an inch.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

Not only did I gain a new understanding, and even appreciation of the manufacturing world, but I also was able to see the skills I learn in the classroom used first hand in real world applications.

Favorite Part of the Experience

The work Trans-matic does is actually fantastic, we are the ones large companies go to, when everyone else says its impossible. But in truth my favorite part was the amazing group of people I was able to work with in the engineering department.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

Working at Trans-Matic has boosted my drive to finish my degree and get out in the real world. I cannot wait to see what advances come out in my future.
