Description of the Organization
JR Automation is an original equipment manufacturer that specializes in designing and building custom machines for different applications. The machines can range from simple machines with fewer components to complex lines that integrate multiple robots to meet customer needs.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This was my third co-op and I was assigned my own projects costing thousands of dollars. I designed controls for different machines, programmed different robots, worked on different visions systems and programmed PLCs for different machines.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
After working at JR Automation for 3 semesters, I have gained knowledge of how to connect different systems together and control them. I have learned how to automate many processes easily and how to make different things talk with one another.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of my co-op experience was seeing the customer happy after testing a machine I designed and programmed.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I would like to pursue a career in controls engineering when I graduate.
