Description of the Organization
Jam Sports (originally Grand Rapids Sport & Social Club) is an adult sport recreation club. We organize and facilitate adult sport and leagues in and around Grand Rapids. We also have Michigan locations in Muskegon and Kalamazoo. The company is based in Canada, there are more than ten location in our neighbor to the north.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Some tasks I was assigned since becoming league conveyer were assisting in interviewing, hiring and onboarding our league coordinators, who are the life blood of our leagues and are curial to the player experience. I was also in charge of general customer service and helping move our rebranding process forward.

Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part about this experience is the skills and the understanding of the recreation industry that came with this position. I have also had the chance to work with and meet a ton of awesome people. I was able to see first hand the impact that sports can have on a community and the way it is able to bring people together like nothing else.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has opened my eyes to the wide variety of positions that the recreation industry presents. I have a broader understanding of the traits needed to succeed in this industry, and am much better equipped to do that than I was before.
