Description of the Organization
Innotec is an engineering company with footholds in the automotive, agricultural, office, and retail industries. Innotec is composed of several divisions, which are broken up into cells. Each cell is operated as a small business, ran by teams of 2-5 people.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my co-op, my main responsibility was to execute projects that improve upon our manufacturing processes. Some larger projects included redesigning/refreshing major components of our machines. In addition, I was also responsible for a portion of the day's production, materials handling, preventative maintenance, and spare parts management.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Learning at Innotec can be a lot like drinking from a firehose. Each day holds a new experience and there is a wealth of knowledge to be learned at this company. Some skills/knowledge that I've accumulated over the past few rotations include machine troubleshooting, program logic, pneumatic cylinders, SolidWorks CAD, general workshop craftsmanship, and much more.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The best part of my co-op at Innotec is realizing the amount of growth I've experienced as an engineer. It is very rewarding to be able to apply the things I've learned in the classroom to a real-life work environment.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Thanks to my time at Innotec, I've learned that I was not mistaken in choosing a career path in engineering, and I look forward to what the future holds.
