Description of the Organization
The committee to elect Rob Davidson is a political campaign. The efforts of this committee is to use a variety of campaign strategies in order to get Rob elected into US congress. As of today, the committee comprises of 20 members and is steady growing.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked primarily in fundraising and field operations. I had the duty of gathering donor research and applying that information to a database in which we use to secure funds for our operations. I also was in charge of creating field events for our candidate to speak at.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned the importance of fundraising and why it is needed. The biggest skill that I gained was to the idea of team work. I have learned that there is a lot of work that goes into a campaign. This work involves collaborating with other members of your team to make sure that every need is being met.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this experience was being able to gain first hand experience with the candidate himself. I was able to pick apart his brain and learn a lot about different political issues in which I had not known.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has been essential in helping me determine if I want to continue to work in campaigns. It is a daunting process and I believe that you have to have the right personality to be successful. This internship has helped me gain the proper knowledge that I will need if I determine to continue to work on campaigns in the future.
