Description of the Organization
Dematic is a global leader that specializes in material handling and logistical solutions. Currently employing more than 6,000 people, Dematic is present in 22 countries. Solutions offered by Dematic include Automated Guided Vehicles, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems, as well as Sortation and Conveying Systems.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my final Co-op semester at Dematic I was able to work on several different projects, completing a wide range of tasks. I worked primarily on the material handling systems within Amazon Fulfillment Centers located in Joliet, IL and Sacramento, CA. In my previous Co-op rotation I worked on the installation drawings and ordered parts for these sites. During this Co-op rotation the installation team was onsite, near the end of the installation process. I aided the installation team and mechanical project lead in ordering priority parts to site. I was also given the opportunity to travel to both of these sites to commission. After the completion of these jobs, I started working on a Fulfillment Center in Long Beach, Ca. I completed several different sets of installation drawings and ordered various parts for this site.

Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of my last Co-op was traveling to Sacramento. There are so many chances while on site, commissioning, to learn about our products. Although long days of work were required, I was able to enjoy the weekend and take a trip to Yosemite.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I have really enjoyed my three Co-ops at Dematic. Working as an entry level engineer from the start with increasing responsibilities has best prepared me for the workforce. Dematic's Co-op program provides excellent guidance for the young engineer.
