Chris
Experience Information
Employer: RAM Electronics
Job Title: Assistant EE
Major: Electrical Engineering
Received Credit: Yes
Paid: Yes
Abroad: No
Description of the Organization
RAM Electronics is a smaller organization with only five office members working to run the company and eight other production workers to produce the circuit boards.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked with the office group to help design prototypes, repair and maintain part testers for the production floor, worked with Altium to design schematics and board layouts. I also made testers for ITW so they could test some of the boards we sent them. Along with working with the office group I also helped out the production floor with creating test fixtures and programming and testing parts.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
During this co-op I learned how to use Altium design software and how to design a PCB. I also learned how to run a surface mount assembly line.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part about this co-op was working on a project to produce a circuit board that could be used for bow hunters to better trace their arrows after they were shot. This is where I was able to take a schematic drawing to making a board layout then finished it off with a prototype to be tested.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has influenced my future career by helping me decide that I would like to continue designing circuit boards and circuits.
