Description of the Organization
Fishbeck, Tompson, Carr, & Huber (FTCH) has roughly 400 staff members in eight regional offices. Engineering, environmental sciences, architecture, and construction management are the cornerstones of FTCH's services and integrated project approach.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I have spent a majority of my time working on the architectural mechanical systems in universities throughout west Michigan including GVSU. I have designed, commissioned. and coordinated the mechanical systems that help buildings operate efficiently and conserve energy.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I acquired skills using 3D architectural modeling software (Revit), AutoCAD, Thermal load calculating software, and above all good communication practices.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I enjoyed designing the mechanical system for buildings in Grand Rapids and seeing the Architectural planning and coordination that is involved in large buildings. I also enjoyed the site visits that allowed me to see several phases of the construction process.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
The experience has given me insight to what aspects of a company are desirable such as; staff size, organization, communication, project size, atmosphere, and support.
