Description of the Organization

TowerPinkster is an architecture and engineering firm in downtown Grand Rapids. They aid customers throughout the state of Michigan and surrounding states to developing construction documents for the renovation or new construction of buildings. We work closely with clients throughout the design and construction phases of projects.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I aided in the layout and design of lighting and electrical power distribution systems within buildings. I worked on projects for a wide range of customers that included primary/secondary education, higher education, government and commercial industries.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

Critical thinking, independent research and social skills required to conduct oneself in a professional environment.

Favorite Part of the Experience

The design aspect of the job is rewarding. The customer gives us an idea of what they want in their new buildings or spaces and we develop various ways with which to use their environment and space available to reach their goals. The frequent interaction with the customer throughout the life of a project is also rewarding. The interaction ensures that we develop solutions to provide for their current and future needs.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I thoroughly enjoy working in the architecture/engineering industry. I like the power systems engineering component of my job and the interaction with my fellow co-workers and our clients. I believe I have found the industry that I want to spend my career in.
