NN designs and manufactures metal components using CNC machining and complex, multi-spindle lathes. Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked as a manufacturing quality intern engineer providing assistance to machinists and operators, while learning and working with the area engineers and managers on day-to-day operations. Some tasks included designing and documenting new processes, experimenting new tools, continuous improvement on the machine floor, and analyzing data results.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Knowledge gained included operating and trouble shooting automation machines. Learned to improve processes through various tool tests to decrease run time. I also communicated with suppliers to receive quotes on new parts or tools. Finally, I analyzed quote models on our parts to see the breakdown of costs and sales.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorites part was being involved in the company and seeing my impact on the typical operations. I worked in a great area where other engineers and machinists wanted to help you learn and grow despite the amount of knowledge you may know. I was held responsible but got to see the value I added to the company.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Having very little to no experience in this field coming into my first rotation, I have grown to see how operations are done here. I have enjoyed my time here and look forward to gaining more responsibility and further my learning through different experiences.
