Description of the Organization
L-3 Technologies(formerly known as L-3 Communications) is an aviation company that provides consumers with aviation products. The organization is considered one entity that has many locations across the country. The people that you would communicate most with are your supervisor and your co-workers nearby in the Test Engineering area of the building. L-3 Technologies is a fairly large corporation, but individual locations are not as giant as other corporations. The size and structure of L-3 Technologies allows for you to obtain a very specialized experience from your supervisor that teaches you what you want to learn more about.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was part of the daily tasks that would help keep production running smoothly while also being part of the bigger projects associated with testing. I specifically was in charge of designing a brand new test station that was to be used in the testing of batteries before a product is shipped out. The process in creating such a station included both hardware elements and software elements that taught me a variety of skills.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained more knowledge in C programming with the C compiler called LabWindows. I also gained experience in electrical design and interpreting electrical drawings.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part about this co-op experience was the amount of responsibility I was given. This co-op gave me so many valuable skills that can be used in future careers of Engineering. Being able to work on a project very useful to the company allowed me to learn so much in a small amount of time.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I definitely would like to work at a company like L-3 Technologies. I would enjoy a similar company that works in the aviation field.
