Description of the Organization
JR Automation is an automation company started in Holland, Michigan in 1980. It currently has about 1200 employees, and is growing quite rapidly. JR Automation has 9 locations between Michigan and South Carolina.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
My role included various PLC and HMI programming tasks, the control of varying frequency drives, servo motors, conveyors, and various other pneumatic/electrical jobs.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained skills in programming, design, communication protocols, air control/pneumatics, problem-solving techniques, and performing various other tasks required by Controls Engineers.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The freedom to problem-solving go and work on one big project that had several coworkers striving toward the same goal. Instead of needing to be given assignments every day, the whole teams just knows what all needs to be done, and simply gets it done.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It makes me want to pursue Controls Engineering for a few more years in order to feel like I fully know what I would like to know regarding it and automation.
