Description of the Organization
Campus Recreation brings together multiple university resources and services to provide the campus community with a wide variety of recreation, fitness, wellness, sports, outdoor adventures, social, and employment opportunities at all levels of ability, competition, and interest. The department consists of between 10-15 professional staff members and between 150-160 student staff each semester.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
-Maintained social media image by creating a consistent brand voice -Supported administrative team to coordinate events -Brainstormed and researched campaign strategies and tactics -Tabled at events to increase program awareness -Documented events through pictures and film for social media
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The ability to critically think and brainstorm ideas independently while still being able to work on a team and collaborate with others.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was the people I worked with and the opportunity to apply what I learned in the classroom throughout the internship.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience reminded me of why I chose to go into the Marketing / Advertising and Public Relations field. It really emphasized how important it is to work on a team of people that are motivated and who you enjoy being around. This internship taught me that it's important to consider work culture when accepting or declining job offers in the future.
