Description of the Organization
Marketlab is a company that specializes in manufacturing/distributing quality products to support healthcare professionals. Their product range includes items such as phlebotomy and storage carts, personal protective equipment (PPE), and dispensers. This is a medium-sized company located in Caledonia, MI. Their manufacturing facility has approximately 45-60 employees, which includes fabrication, shipping, quality, engineering, etc.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my third rotation, I assisted my supervisor with completing some objectives for a recent business acquisition. I was responsible for creating a handful of work instructions and helping to transfer some of their BOMs into our system. I was also involved with a variety of miscellaneous projects, including product testing, 3D printing, designing a fixture for their screen printing process, creating technical drawings in SolidWorks, and more!
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained skills in CAD, problem solving, analyzing data/information, and written/oral communication with people inside and outside of the organization.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was getting the opportunity to learn from my supervisor and teammates while working together to complete a variety of projects.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has widened the breadth of my engineering experience, and I am more confident that I want my career to emphasize product design and manufacturing.
