Description of the Organization
IPM is a solutions based engineering company with around 100 employees, that specializes in fully integrated packaging lines in the food and dairy industries.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was tasked with various degrees of project work, where I designed, modeled, and assembled hundreds of parts to form a specified conveyor for the application at hand. I also worked on standard library components to help improve efficiency for designing in future similar projects.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
2D and 3D CAD, specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience. Project work and communication skills, along with everyday practical problem solving and designing techniques.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Going into work knowing that no two problems or projects are exactly the same and having the challenge to overcome and adapt to design limitations makes for an exciting work experience.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has opened my eyes to how broad Mechanical engineering is as whole and learning specialization within your career is quite normal. You don't have to go in knowing exactly what you want to do either, and I think that is a big misconception when choosing your career.
