Description of the Organization
viastore systems, inc. is a German-based company that designs, provides, and implements material handling systems. This covers everything from conveyor systems to AS/AR cranes. The company is international, with the US location in Grand Rapids.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This rotation I spent most of my time in the field. I oversaw installations as well as engineering solutions to problems as they arose. I was given responsibilities throughout my time that were key to the completion of the projects.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
This internship taught me volumes of soft skills. Working in the field had me working with people every day to find solutions and to approach problems the right way. Learning to work well with people was an essential part of this rotation, and it was a skill used every day. I also learned about how to properly manage a project and what can go wrong without proper organization.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience was the opportunity to travel, as well as working with others often. I had the opportunity to see some of the country and really enjoyed it. I liked that I was able to work with others because it provided different perspectives and insight on different problems.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This rotation has shown me that working directly with people is a skill I have that I should utilize to the fullest in the future. Identifying strengths is key in finding a career and I feel that this experience helped me realize that.
