Description of the Organization
Magna Mirrors is an international company that makes mirrors for Rolls Royce, GM, Ford, Rivian, Toyota, BMW, Ferrari, and many others. Magna Mirrors Holland has a smaller but tight-knit grouping of workers. The Engineering team is led by a highly accessible leader. Directly under the engineering manager is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of 14 engineers. Some engineers took on roles as project managers. This group of people will make a request to the engineering intern team and one or more of us will take on the job.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I assisted with testing out a brand new production line with the intention of improving a process. I made a test apparatus that was capable of testing 27 mirrors at once. I also made improvements to each production line to keep sensitive circuit board from being damaged. I have also created different types of mirrors that will be used for function testing.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
My ability to handle a project, find my own answers, time management, soldering skills, and circuit skills were all improved
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part about working as a co-op student was being in an environment that allowed me to actually work alongside engineers. I was able to do work other than busywork. Each day I felt like I was doing something important.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I am truly considering double majoring to obtain my EE and CE degrees. I am a CE student but I have found great respect for circuits.
